Pay
- $15-17 per hour
- Pay rate based on qualifications and experience
- Part-Time, Seasonal, Not Benefit Eligible
Hours of Work
- Position runs May 30th through October 12th for peak season, hours will be primarily weekends with some special event needs during the week
- Saturday-Sunday, approximate hours anytime between 9:00am-8:00pm
- Monday-Friday, approximate hours anytime between 3:00 pm – 8:00pm
- Hours may be limited by program needs
Typical Duties Performed
- Serve as an attendant for such events as weddings, Music in the Gardens and Art in the Gardens.
- Greet renters and the public to establish positive public relations and knowledge of the facility and department to answer any questions.
- Maintain clean facilities and parks for the public, including inside and outside of the park shelters and the restrooms.
- Set up and tear down at events and before and after ceremonies.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Open and close the facility safely and securely.
- Assure parks and park shelters are kept neat and orderly by picking up garbage and replacing garbage bags in the receptacles.
- Inspect the facility before and after your shift and report unsafe conditions or equipment. * Water all pots, containers, urns, and nursery.
- Educate on and enforce all park and recreation facility rules, regulations, and policies, maintaining a consistent discipline policy for all renters and public participants.
- Complete any necessary records and reports on attendance, accidents, and/or incidents.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What is needed to apply for this job?
- Job seekers should be age 18 or older
- Valid Minnesota Class D driver’s license, or equivalent out-of-state license, with no moving violation suspensions or revocations (including DUI) within the one-year period prior to the date of appointment (suspensions for parking-related offenses excluded)
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, turn and use fine motor skills and manual dexterity
- Ability to work in all weather conditions experienced throughout the summer months
- Ability to be flexible, punctual, and highly responsible
You May Be a Great Fit if You Have:
- Ability to complete tasks without supervision
- One (1) or more years of experience as a building attendant
- Responsible work attitude, as well as reliable, organized work habits
- Working ability to understand and follow directions
- Working ability to communicate effectively with the public and enforce the park rules
