Assistant or Associate Professor of Marketing

St. Edward's University, a nationally ranked, independent Catholic university and Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position as an Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Marketing, Operations, and Analytics, beginning August 2025. The successful candidate will teach in-person undergraduate and online graduate courses across the Marketing curriculum; maintain an active, high quality research program leading to refereed publications in the discipline; develop new courses and curriculum as needed; provide academic advising and mentoring for undergraduate students; interact with the business and non-profit communities to develop experiential learning opportunities for students; serve on committees at the department, school, and university levels; and fulfill other required faculty responsibilities as outlined in the St. Edward's University Faculty Manual.

Teaching emphasis will be on contemporary marketing practices, including principles of marketing, digital marketing, social media marketing, and analytics. The Department of Marketing, Operations, and Analytics has created an innovative curriculum in digital marketing, emphasizing the digital expertise needed across all aspects of this area. Specific classroom competencies sought include: digital marketing, including digital strategy, search marketing, email marketing, web site design and optimization, mobile marketing, data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning, social media marketing, marketing technology, customer experience marketing, and consumer behavior. The successful candidate will have the technical skills commensurate with teaching these subjects.

For consideration, applicants must have the following credentials:

  • Earned doctorate in Marketing or related discipline, preferably from an AACSB-accredited business program.
  • A demonstrated record of or strong potential for original scholarship in high quality peer-reviewed academic journals.
  • Evidence of excellent teaching potential, preferably in digital or social media marketing and analytics. Prior experience with online course development and teaching is also preferred.
  • At least three years of marketing industry experience, either in business-to-business or business-to-consumer contexts are preferred; current experience with artificial intelligence tools in digital marketing also preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
  • A collegial, team player with excellent interpersonal skills who can work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Documented proof of identity, employment eligibility, and completion of a successful criminal background check.

Essential Responsibilities Include: Candidates should have the interest and ability or potential to teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses and support a diverse student body.

  • Fulfill teaching requirements: 4/3 teaching load -- a total of 7 classes per academic year.
  • Teach and prepare courses and curriculum as assigned, including in-person and online courses which may be held on evenings or Saturdays.
  • Maintain an active, high quality research program leading to referred publications in the discipline and maintenance of AACSB "Scholarly Academic" status.
  • Interact with local, regional, national, and international business and non-profit communities to develop experiential learning and applied service opportunities for students.
  • Participate in assessment of student performance in the discipline.
  • Provide academic advising and mentoring for undergraduate students.
  • Maintain/enhance competency in digital marketing through research, writing, teaching, and/or industry experience.
  • Act collegially and build positive relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Maintain commitment to St. Edward's values, mission, and strategic plan.
  • Meet School and University service requirements as outlined in St. Edward's University Faculty Manual.
  • Other duties as assigned
