What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technician-Emergency Medical position at St. Elizabeth Healthcare?
As a key member of our patient care delivery team, you will provide direct and indirect support to patients as directed by a Registered Nurse (RN).
You will participate in various activities such as:
- Facilitating patient safety and environmental support tasks.
- Collecting basic laboratory specimens and performing EKGs with troponins.
- Assisting with lifting, transporting patients, and performing vital signs.
- Cleaning and bandaging wounds, splinting fractures, and other duties delegated by the nursing staff within your scope of training.
You will also be responsible for:
- Transporting patients to testing areas.
- FOLLOWING ALL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES when collecting laboratory samples and performing EKGs.
- Ensuring accurate and timely completion of tests.
- Ordering tests and making phone calls as needed.
- Assisting with medical record keeping, order entry, and phone management.
- Supporting nursing staff in addressing patient care needs and ensuring a conducive environment.
- Communicating with patients and families while they wait for treatment or tests.
- Maintaining a clean and organized department, restocking supplies, and assisting with equipment maintenance.
- Upgrading your skills and knowledge through required competencies.
