We are seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to join our team at St. Francis Indian School AKA Sicangu Oyate Ho Inc. in St. Francis, SD as a Kindergarten Lakota Language Teacher. As a Kindergarten Lakota Language T, you will play a vital role in fostering a love for the Lakota language and culture in our youngest students. You will be responsible for creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students can develop their language skills and cultural identity.
Responsibilities:
- Developing and implementing lesson plans that align with Lakota language curriculum
- Creating a culturally responsive and inclusive classroom environment
- Providing individualized support to students to help them progress in their language acquisition
- Collaborating with colleagues to integrate Lakota language and culture across the curriculum
- Communicating regularly with parents and families to share students' progress
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Lakota Language, or a related field
- Fluency in Lakota language
- Experience working with young children
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to promoting Lakota language and culture
