What are the responsibilities and job description for the Harvest Lab Intern position at St Francis Winery and Vineyard, L.P.?
Description
This position will be involved in all standard crush lab and viticulture activities. This is a temporary, full-time position (July through November) with a Monday through Friday standard work week. Overtime is required as needed to meet operational needs.
Responsibilities include:
· Crop Estimation as needed
· Grape sampling and maturity analysis
· Inoculations
· Enzyme/nutrient tank additions
· Fermentation checks
· Chemical analysis of finished wines as needed
· Data collection and analysis for both grapes & wine
· Enters data in Winemaker’s database Vintrace as needed
· Generate standard reports and other reports as requested
· Acts as Weigh Master for grape and bulk wine deliveries and shipments, writing, calculating, and entering all weigh tags & Bills of Ladings.
· Cellar/barrel activities as needed
· Supports the Company’s sustainability and green initiatives
Requirements
· Previous industry experience or education preferred.
· Viticulture, Enology or Chemistry Science or related degree preferred.
· Proficiency in MS Office preferred.
· Ability to work in a team environment and perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the Company’s policies.
· Accuracy, organizational ability and attention to detail.
· Ability to communicate effectively in English.
· Must be available to work from approximately early July until mid to late November.
· Must also be dependable and flexible to work varying shifts, overtime, weekends and holidays.
· Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
