Position Overview:
Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Jesuit Elementary School seeks a dynamic and faith-filled Director of Campus Ministry to nurture the spiritual growth of students, parents, and staff. This role involves coordinating sacramental celebrations, prayer, retreats, faith formation, service, and other programs to uphold the school's strong Catholic identity in alignment with its Jesuit tradition. This 12-month position includes benefits and requires close collaboration with the administrative team, faculty, students, parents, parish staff, neighboring schools, and Jesuit priests.
Key Responsibilities:
Retreats & Faith Formation
- Plan, organize, and facilitate student retreats across grade levels, ensuring they reflect Jesuit spirituality and Ignatian principles.
- Coordinate parent retreats and other opportunities to strengthen family faith engagement and participation within the school and parish community.
- Lead faith formation programs and retreats for faculty and staff, fostering their spiritual growth and commitment to the school’s catholic identity and mission.
- Assist faculty and staff with obtaining and maintaining their catechist certification through the Diocese of Phoenix.
Liturgical & Sacramental Preparation
- Coordinate sacramental preparation and manage records for students receiving the First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation.
- Plan and organize school liturgies, prayer services, and other spiritual gatherings throughout the year in accordance with the liturgical cycle and traditions of the church.
- Guide students in active participation in the liturgical life of the school and parish.
Jesuit Identity & Mission Integration
- Ensure that Ignatian spirituality is present in all aspects of school life, fostering a deep commitment to faith, service, and justice.
- Provide spiritual guidance and pastoral care for students, parents and staff.
- Support the development of student leadership in faith-based initiatives, service projects, and social justice efforts.
- Collaborate and support the Assistant Principal and Principal with the religious education curriculum of the school.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Practicing Roman Catholic with a strong understanding of Ignatian spirituality and Jesuit traditions.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Pastoral Ministry, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience in campus ministry, retreat planning, or faith formation in a school or parish setting.
- Strong pastoral, organizational and leadership skills with the ability to inspire and engage students, parents, and staff.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with school faculty/staff, families, and parish staff.
