What are the responsibilities and job description for the School-Age Program Caregiver position at St. James Early Learning Center?
We seek immediate openings for highly motivated individuals who can provide supervised care, monitor children's activities, and provide a safe, nurturing environment for children enrolled in the School-Age program. This individual works with the children before and after school, and on school closure days.This position is a split shift position all to cover the mornings and afternoons. We are flexible.
During our summer months, this individual has the option to work full-time in our all-day summer program at the end of the school year.
General responsibilities include planning simple but engaging activities that will meet the needs of school-age children in grades K-5. We serve children morning breakfast, walk them to and from school, help them start homework, provide afternoon snacks, and enjoy active engagement with our school-age children until departure.
Support other teaching staff by performing various tasks throughout the classroom. Supervise children at all times and maintain classroom routine, including cleaning, rotating materials, communicating with families, and cleaning classroom areas.
General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to apply early childhood development theories in daily classroom activities and facilitate appropriate outcomes for individual children. Able to meet the needs of children ages 5-12.
Ability to be flexible with work assignments and work schedules.
Must have the ability to work and maintain high standards of professional ethics with persons of different racial, ethnic, economic, and social backgrounds.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience
Must have a high school diploma or GED
Minimum of one (1) year of experience with children.
Must pass all PA-required background checks.
