Additionally, they will handle lab specimens properly, assist with off-site venipuncture collections, and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Key Tasks:
- Enter lab orders accurately into the LIS computer system.
- Collect blood and urine samples from patients, following established protocols.
- Properly label and distribute lab specimens, adhering to quality control standards.
- Conduct off-site venipuncture collections, if necessary.
- Maintain a well-stocked phlebotomy area with supplies, monitoring inventory and submitting requests for replenishment as needed.
- Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals, addressing any concerns promptly.
- Support departmental goals and objectives through collaboration with colleagues.
Requirements:
- A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Certificate completion of a certified Phlebotomy course is preferred.
- Eligibility for employment upon graduation, with preference given to candidates with 6 months' experience.
- Certification as a Phlebotomist is preferred.
- BLS certification is required.
