Overview
St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students each year. Across its five Schools, Fisher offers nearly 40 majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, education, and nursing; 11 pre-professional programs; and master’s and doctoral programs in business, nursing, education, pharmacy, and public health. The University’s residential campus boasts a robust living and learning community and a successful intercollegiate athletics program. Job Responsibilities
  • Overall leadership, partnering with the AVP for Academic Support Services and other leaders in Academic and Student Affairs, for strategic planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive, data-driven, and integrated student success plan that supports and enhances students’ ability to persist to graduation.
  • Lead the University’s efforts to include identifying at-risk students and training faculty, staff, and student-leaders on how to respond to a wide range of concerns utilizing the University’s retention-based CRM, FisherLink (Starfish).
  • Create regular opportunities to dialogue and collaborate with faculty and staff about student success to broaden understanding of influences on behaviors and to effect positive change.
  • Provide an annual institutional report on student success outcomes to the Cabinet.
  • Exercise strategic leadership in establishing and collaboratively implementing organizational goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitor and evaluate operational effectiveness; and effect changes required for improvements.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators for departments and units to evaluate and improve student success.
  • Support and assist in creating interactions for academic leadership, staff and students that will assist in transforming student success.
  • Identify, track, and engage students with resources aligned to their specific needs.
  • Proactively coordinate outreach, especially to those at-risk, to provide guidance and support, and create pathways to assistance.
  • Manage the FisherLink software and lead efforts to leverage software across all employee groups and employee roles in the system.
  • Coordinate communication and messaging from key stakeholder groups to students.
  • Serve as liaison between the University and external partners EAB and Ruffalo Noel Levitz to maximize use of FisherLink and the Student Retention Predictor Model (SRP).

Education / Experience
  • A master’s degree preferred; bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least 7-10 years of previous enrollment and/or retention/student success-related experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing student retention initiatives and measurable outcomes

Competencies / Skills
  • Proficiency in data analysis and assessment tools to measure the impact of student success initiatives. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students and colleagues.
  • Strong understanding of student development theories, retention best practices, and challenges facing first-generation
  • Proven leadership and project management abilities.
  • Effectively represents the University on and off campus.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the University by performing other duties as assigned.

The salary range for this role is set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, qualifications, experience, and education. The above hiring range is one component of the University’s competitive Total Rewards package which can be viewed here
