Job Responsibilities Position Summary :
The Associate Provost serves in a senior administrative role and as a direct support to the Provost and may, at times, be asked to serve in place of the Provost.
The Associate Provost provides strategic leadership in the provost office supporting both faculty and student success and serves as direct support to the provost and the overall goals of the office. The position provides specific leadership for institutional reporting, faculty professional development, sponsored and undergraduate research, Lavery Library, global education and oversees a coordinated approach to first year programming. This role involves collaborating with other university stakeholders to design and implement strategies to enhance the success of the institution, ensuring the quality of teaching and learning (including instructional and classroom technology), helping to conduct financial analysis for the academic affairs division, and developing reports through the Banner enterprise system.
Responsibilities :
- Leadership and Direction : Provide leadership and direction for several units within Academic Affairs : Institutional reporting; The DePeters Family Center for Innovation and Teaching Excellence; Lavery Library; Global Education; the Office of Sponsored Programs and Undergraduate Research; HEOP / TRIO / CSTEP
- Faculty Development : Design and implement professional development programs for faculty to enhance onboarding to Fisher; chair leadership; teaching, research, and service. Support faculty development initiatives to ensure continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Research Leadership : Promote and support research activities across the university, fostering a culture of inquiry and innovation. Provide oversight for research policies, funding, and compliance (including IRB).
- Study Abroad and Global Education : Oversee study abroad programs and global education initiatives. Collaborate with all partners to enhance global learning opportunities for students and faculty. Serve as PDSO for international students.
- Budget Management : Oversee the budget for the academic affairs office, ensuring effective management and alignment with university-wide financial goals. Collaborate with the Provost and other academic leaders to develop budget plans and provide budget analysis.
- Strategic Initiatives : Advance strategic initiatives to enhance the quality of teaching and learning, and address challenges and barriers to success.
- Communication and Collaboration : Organize and participate in meetings with university stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and Cabinet members. Contribute to academic leadership team meetings.
- Personnel Management : Conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports, manage the process for contracts for part-time faculty, and serve as advisor to the provost.
