Job Responsibilities St. John Fisher University invites applications for the full-time, 12-month position of Instructional Designer. This dynamic role supports faculty and subject matter experts (SMEs) in creating innovative, engaging, and effective learning experiences for both credit-bearing and non-credit offerings. The Instructional Designer will collaborate with campus partners to design and develop courses and modules for traditional in-person courses, online programs, and continuing education offerings. In addition to content development, the position will include consulting with faculty on course design, teaching strategies, and best practices in pedagogy through one-on-one consultations, workshops, and DePeters Family Center signature professional development experiences.
The Instructional Designer will play a key role in incorporating emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), into the instructional design process. They will leverage AI tools to streamline course development, generate personalized learning experiences, and create dynamic, interactive course content. Furthermore, the Instructional Designer will lead faculty training on the effective use of AI tools to enhance course design, improve instructional efficiency, and promote student engagement across diverse teaching modalities.
The ideal candidate will be a skilled instructional design professional with expertise in both the technical aspects of creating digital learning materials and the interpersonal skills needed to guide faculty in enhancing their teaching effectiveness.
The Instructional Designer, working in collaboration with faculty and administration, will be specifically responsible for the following :
40-50%) Non-Credit Course Development
- Lead the development of interactive online courseware modules and self-paced learning experiences in collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs) for non-credit programs, including continuing and executive education offerings.
- Design and develop high-quality, engaging learning materials tailored to the unique needs of non-credit learners.
- Incorporate innovative tools, media, and instructional strategies, including AI-driven solutions, to enhance learner engagement and interactivity in non-credit learning experiences.
- Serve as a liaison between campus continuing education program owners, the Center and the Office of Information Technology to ensure the non-credit LMS supports the diverse needs of current and future program offerings.

Education / Experience 3-5 years of experience developing online learning courseware and teaching online is preferred. Qualified applicants will hold a master's degree or higher, preferably in instructional design, educational technology, instructional technology, education, human-computer interaction, or a related degree.
