Job Summary :
The Informatics Specialist II plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between clinical practice and information technology. This position is responsible for analyzing, designing, implementing, and supporting clinical information systems to enhance patient care, improve efficiency, and optimize workflow.
Responsibilities :
Collaborate with clinicians, nurses, and other stakeholders to identify clinical workflow inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement
Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to understand the specific requirements of clinical departmentsAnalyze existing clinical information systems to identify gaps and areas for enhancementPerform analysis related to understanding, reviewing, interpreting, and documenting current workflows in clinical areas as well as understanding the impact on relevant downstream systemsDocument user requirements and business needs for clinical systems using various methods (e.g. flowcharts, diagrams)Based on analysis, plan for and accommodate the impact of system changes and enhancementsRequirements GatheringElicit, document, and validate requirements from various stakeholders, including clinicians, administrators, and staff
Review and provide feedback on new ideas, products, and system changesCreate detailed functional specifications that clearly outline the desired system capabilitiesCollaborate with subject matter experts to ensure requirements align with business objectivesSystem Design and ImplementationParticipate in the design and development of clinical information systems, ensuring alignment with clinical workflows and organizational goals
Collaborate with IT teams to implement and configure clinical systems, including electronic health records (EHRs), clinical decision support systems (CDSS), and other relevant applicationsDevelop and maintain system documentation, including user manuals, training materials, and workflowsAssist in the implementation of new clinical information systems, including testing, training, and go-live supportMaintenance and SupportMonitor system performance and identify and resolve technical issues
Provide ongoing maintenance for existing clinical systemsPerform system upgrades and patches as neededProvide ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance to usersparticipate in IT on-call rotationTrainingDevelop and deliver training programs for Meditech providers (MD / DO, NP, PA, Residents)
Conduct training sessions for end-users on new systems or system enhancementsDevelop and maintain system documentation, including user manuals, training materials, and process flowsDocumentation and Quality ImprovementCreate and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system specifications, user manuals, and training materials
Effectively manage Help Desk tickets and other vendor application ticketsEnsure tickets are acknowledged and routinely updated timely, communicate ticket stats to requestor, and close tickets once issue is resolvedParticipate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomesProject ManagementContribute to clinical informatics projects, including requirements gathering, testing, and implementation
Contribute to project planning and execution by providing input on timelines, resource allocation, and deliverablesTrack project progress and identify potential risks or issuesStakeholder ManagementMaintain effective communication with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
Manage expectations and address concerns in a timely mannerRequirements :
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Health Informatics, or a related field requiredMater's Degree in Health Informatics or a related field preferredCertification in Clinical informatics preferred5 years experience in clinical informatics or a related fieldStrong understanding of clinical workflows and processesExperience with clinical systems, such as electronic health records and clinical decision support systemsKnowledge of data analysis and reporting toolsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamFamiliarity with healthcare industry standards and regulations (e.g. HIPAA)Experience with project management methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall)
Salary : $120,000 - $135,000
