Responsibilities
An Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner under the direction of the Physician provides primary care, performing physical exams, diagnosing, and treating illnesses, managing chronic conditions, and collaborating with physicians to ensure high-quality patient care
Conducting comprehensive health assessments, including taking patient histories and performing physical examinations.
Diagnosing and treating a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
Developing and implementing individualized patient care plans.
Managing chronic illnesses and promoting preventative care.
Providing health education and counseling to patients and their families.
Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests
Prescribing and managing medications and therapies.
Referral to specialists when necessary.
Working collaboratively with physicians, other healthcare providers, and patients to ensure coordinated care.
Communicating effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals
Participating in team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours.
Possible exposure to patient body substances, with potential/actual infectious diseases.
Possible exposure to potentially hazardous materials/conditions, (i.e. noise, chemicals, CRT, electrical equipment, etc.).
Exposure to equipment with moving parts and sharp objects.
Qualifications
Possession of a current valid license to practice nursing in New York State.
Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State with at least one (1) year experience.
Internal Medicine experience preferred.
Master of Science
Nurse Practitioner Certificate
