Hydrologic Modeler (Engineer Scientist I or II)
Bureau of Watershed Management and Modeling
Job Summary: Performs hydrologic modeling and data analysis to support water resources management, flood protection, water quality improvements, environmental restoration, and minimum flows and levels assessment.
Job duties include:
Works under the supervision of a professional engineer or an engineer scientist. Performs model simulations using existing surface water models to generate water quantity and water quality results; Evaluates model results; Develops model data sets. Utilizes ArcGIS to develop figures and data as necessary for model development.
Performs statistical analysis of hydrologic data, including stream discharge and water quality data frequency analysis, development of flow duration curves, and regression and trend analysis.
Contributes to the development of project reports and presentations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Engineer Scientist I requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in geology, hydrology, environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering, or related field.
Engineer Scientist II requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in geology, hydrology, environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering, or related field and one year of professional experience in geology, hydrology, environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering, or related field.
A master's degree from an accredited college or university in geology, hydrology, environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering, or related field can substitute for one year of the required experience.
Professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
Mostly office environment sitting at a desk and operating a personal computer to produce work products. Periodic field visits may occur, which require the ability to endure outdoor environments in uncomfortable temperatures, inclement weather, and remote locations.
Travel:
Minimal travel to attend off-site meetings, sometimes outside of normal business hours including overnight.

Starting Salary Range:
Engineer Scientist I: $52,520.00 - $65,644.80
Engineer Scientist II: $56,180.80 - $70,220.80
Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
