Children’s Care Center Teacher’s Job Description – Lead Teacher
The goal of the St. Joseph Children Care Center lead teacher is to create a supportive, caring classroom environment and to team with the other teachers to produce a quality program in which students can master curriculum content, learn appropriate social and study skills, and develop their faith. This position is full time and includes benefits.
Ability and Skills Desired
- A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day.
- Must be a team player who works cooperatively with the other teachers in planning lessons, handling student behavior, and producing a quality program and able to build positive relationships with families to create a dynamic environment where play and learning happens
- Can demonstrate an understanding of the instructional skills needed to teach high quality and appropriate curriculum.
- Evaluates each student’s growth in academics and social skills, and communicates student progress to parents and supervisor.
- Establishes a positive and orderly classroom atmosphere needed to provide a productive and safe learning environment.
- Maintains professional competence through continuing education and in self-selected professional growth activities and meets state specific guidelines for the role.
- Has experience in teaching and shows an understanding of students’ unique stages of development.
- Integrates Catholic values in lessons.
- Is physically capable of performing job duties as assigned, standing for long periods of time, lifting at least 20 lbs., moving/pushing up to 26 lbs., be able to sit/stand/kneel/crouch, and have appropriate vision/hearing/senses to perform duties successfully.
- CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.
