St. Joseph Home is a Cincinnati based nonprofit dedicated to providing much needed support systems for people with complex disabilities and their families. We are passionate about making a difference and are looking for a dynamic and results-driven Staff Accountant to join our team!
Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant performs a variety of general accounting work for the Finance Department, with an eye toward process improvement and simplification in all tasks. This position maintains a variety of financial transactions and records; compiles information, prepares reports and/or summaries, and analyzes data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversight of accounts payable process
- Oversight of expense management/software & improvements
- Accounting data integrity
- Financial reporting
- Support of month-end/year-end processes
- Account reconciliation
- Oversight of Resident Personal Funds accounting
- Act as liaison to state/federal agencies
- Accounting compliance
- Billing
- Tax preparation
- Backup Payroll/Purchasing processes
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Associate's degree with relevant accounting experience
- 3 years of experience in accounting or related finance fields
- CPA, CMA, or other financial certification achievement or progress is a plus
- Aptitude for spotting inefficiencies & proposing improvements
- Coursework in not-for-profit accounting is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Solid understanding of core bookkeeping & accounting principles
- Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills
- Strong level of customer service and negotiation skill
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.
