Position Summary
The primary purpose of your job position is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Business Office. Responsible for the general accounting function, including accounts receivable, resident trust accounts, and bank reconciliations. In accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our operation, and as may be directed by the Executive Director.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

- Ensure compliance with Resident Rights and HIPAA policies at all times.
- Ensure that all business office procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
- Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of the Business Office.
- Manage the facility’s accounting functions under the general supervision of the Business Office Manager.
- Prepare claims for provided services for submission to payer sources in compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
- Monitor and collect accounts receivables. Report delinquent accounts to the Administrator.
- Engage in efforts to collect outstanding accounts receivables. Make recommendations when delinquent accounts should be categorized as “bad debt”.
- Monitor internal controls to assure compliance with established procedures.
- Establish and maintain a system of financial recordkeeping to include ledgers, recording payments, writing receipts, posting cash journals, prepare and make bank deposits, etc.
- Maintain the general ledger to include the preparation of journal entries, coding of invoices, accounts analysis and reconciliation, closing books, setting up new accounts, etc., as necessary or instructed.
- Review and interpret monthly financial statements and provide such information to the Business Office Manager.
- Review entries to the general and statistical ledgers, to assure accuracy and compliance with established accounting procedures.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the Business Office Manager.
