Are you someone who values building relationships and helping others succeed? St Julien Hotel & Spa is looking for a Human Resources Coordinator who’s adaptable, approachable, and excited to grow in a fast-paced, people-focused environment. In this role, you will report directly to the Director of Human Resources and provide overall support to the department.
We are seeking someone who aims to expand their practical knowledge of HR and gain hands-on experience, particularly in the world of Hospitality! You will have the unique opportunity for exposure to the organizational needs of a Forbes 4-Star property, shadow interviews/meetings, and play an active role in creating meaningful connections with staff to foster a supportive and collaborative work culture.
Essential Job Functions:
- Administrative duties including but not limited to: filing, data entry, and maintenance of accurate HR-related records in accordance with established protocols and compliance standards.
- Serve as a point of contact for staff inquiries/concerns; able to knowledgeably answer questions regarding any/all HR-related topics.
- Assist with the coordination of recruitment efforts including posting jobs externally, monitoring third-party job posting sites, and extending job offers.
- Facilitate pre-employment and onboarding processing.
- Lead onboarding efforts (including New Hire Orientation) to ensure a seamless integration for new employees into the Company culture.
- Collaborate with HR Director on the cultivation of employee development/engagement programs that inspire growth and innovation.
- Assist in providing confident and professional conflict resolution in response to employee relations issues; serve as a general resource for performance management.
- Review employee change forms – including pay increases, title changes, department transfers, etc. – and submit them for approval and processing.
- Assist with the organization and execution of employee events and recognition programs.
- Design, implement, and champion culture-enhancing initiatives that enhance employee satisfaction, promote diversity and inclusion, and align with business values.
- Accurately complete all verification of employment/income requests in a timely manner.
- Generate and distribute HR reports on key metrics to the appropriate parties on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Assist in the development, communication, and enforcement of all HR policies and procedures.
- Support the Hotel’s Worker’s Compensation program by promoting and enforcing our commitment to a clean and safe work environment.
- Participate in professional development activities, required trainings, etc. as appropriate.
- Support the fair and consistent application of all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- Continually search for ways to improve procedures/processes and present thoughtful recommendations/implementation strategies to the HR Director for consideration.
- Additional tasks/projects as assigned by the HR Director.
Ideal Candidate:
- Openness to learn and to receive feedback is critical.
- It is not required or expected that the candidate who fills this role must be a seasoned HR professional, however our ideal candidate IS expected to be eager and open to learning and being coached.
- Responsible for effective self/workload management. Must be able to multi-task, balance interruptions in a professional manner, and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Should be comfortable working both collaboratively and independently on potentially sensitive/complex issues; adept at handling sensitive situations with empathy and discretion.
- Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, integrity, professionalism, and a warm demeanor even in difficult circumstances.
Qualifications:
- College degree in Human Resources or a related field, OR a combination of previous work experience education, is required.
- Strong preference for prior experience in Hospitality or the service industry.
- General knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local employment laws is required.
- Sensitivity to (and appreciation for) cultural, political, geographical, and other differences, and the ability to work well with employees from all backgrounds and on all levels within the organization, is required.
- Must have excellent attention to detail, strong organizational and communication skills, and a professional presence.
- Computer literacy, proficiency using MS Office products, and basic accounting knowledge is required.
- Must be able to hear, speak, read, and write English fluently; Spanish-language ability is a plus!
- Open and in-person (vs remote) availability is required. Typical work week will be M-F, however interested candidates should be able to work flexibly to attend and/or facilitate Company events as necessary.
