JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for supervision and teaching of students during the program and is responsible for assisting the student to achieve program objectives. Part-time instructor reports to the Program Director.
- General Requirements:
- Must be qualified to teach the courses assigned through academic and/or work experience.
- Must have required credentials and/or appropriate licensure where required.
- Must be of good moral character, positive and energetic. Committed to providing students with quality instruction.
- Must provide the College with any and all documents that the College requires in order to appoint the instructor to the College’s faculty. This includes but is not limited to a copy of current resume, copy of current licensure and/or credentials, two official copies of all College transcripts and any other credentials that are relevant to their position as a faculty member.
- Instructional Responsibilities:
- Will teach on the average 20 hours a week of lecture and/or laboratory courses.
- Will provide classroom instruction in a courteous and professional manner following the curriculum developed by the College. Must create a learning environment in the classroom that is conducive to learning and consistent with accepted educational practice.
- Will maintain all student records pertinent to the courses taught and submit those records in a timely manner to administration for inclusion in the students’ records.
- Will prepare and administer assignments, tests, clinical evaluations and projects that will be used to assess the students’ academic performance. At the end of each course will assign every student a grade that reflects their performance in the course and submit the grades in a timely manner to administration for inclusion in the students’ records.
- Will serve as a role model for students including acting and dressing in a professional manner. Will enforce the College’s Student Code of Conduct in the classroom including the dress code and proper professional behavior.
- Will prepare and distribute via LMS (Moodle) and/or hard copy course syllabus to each student as a part of their course orientation.
- Will keep LMS up-to-date and organized with weekly expectations in accordance to the objectives of the course.
- III. Advising Responsibilities:
- Will serve as the initial advisor to resolve student concerns, grievances, conduct problems and academic difficulties.
- Will refer unresolved problems to the appropriate Instructor/Director and assist them in resolving the problem.
- Administrative Responsibilities:
- Will review and recommend revisions in the textbooks, reference materials and classroom teaching materials.
- Will attend on-line scheduled faculty meetings and workshops when able.
- Will be involved on a continuous basis in developing, evaluating and revising course and program curricula, instructional procedures, course and program objectives and philosophy.
- Must be fully proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Professional Development:
- Will be responsible for maintaining current knowledge in field of specialty by attending workshops, in services, professional meetings, conferences and continuing education.
- Will be a member of appropriate professional organizations.
- Distance Education (If Applicable)
- Is responsible for the development and delivery of distance education course.
- Will monitor and document student progress and participation.
- Will attend distance education instructor training and development activities.
- Will work closely with the Distance Education Coordinator to ensure student/teacher interaction meets company expectations.
