St. Louis County Department of Parks and Recreation is currently seeking Park Supervisor candidates to help fulfill its mission of providing high quality parks, facilities, and recreation services that enhance residents' lives through responsible and effective management of resources. Park Supervisors are assigned a specific park location (or cluster of parks). The current vacancy is located at Buder Park in Fenton MO, but the list being created may be used to fill positions at other locations as they occur.
The starting salary will be $23.10 hourly depending on candidate's qualifications as well as budgetary considerations. - Manages the maintenance and operation of buildings and grounds in a specified park.
- Establishes work priorities and schedules.
- Supervises and performs routine work such as mowing grass, restroom maintenance, trash removal, playground maintenance, and tennis and basketball court maintenance, etc.
- Supervises and performs maintenance, repair, installation, and coordination of special projects regarding parking lots, sidewalks, shelters, restrooms, hiking and biking trails, etc.
- Supervises and performs routine maintenance on County equipment including trucks, tractors, and mowers.
- Researches and writes specifications for equipment, building materials, and recreational equipment as needed.
- Coordinates with park staff regarding numerous outside park functions such as snow removal and special events.
- Performs safety inspections and enforces safety regulations.
- Offers input for budget considerations.
- Responsible to insuring a safe, pleasant experience for park visitors.
- Performs related work as required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license.

SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT: A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available.
The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above. The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire. Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire. The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.
All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be covered by the County.
