What are the responsibilities and job description for the MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN position at St Louis Public Library?
The St. Louis Public library is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance team. Our ideal candidate will be experienced, reliable, have strong attention to detail, and works well with both internal and external customers. The position is managed out of our headquartered office at 1415 Olive Street, Downtown West.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs HVAC duties including maintenance of chillers, condensers, cooling towers, and boilers
- Installs and makes repairs to lighting and electrical fixtures, circuits, controls, a wiring
- Installs and makes repairs to plumbing fixtures, including piping, faucets, toilet and water heaters
- Maintains pumps on motors on all equipment
- Maintains all Library vehicles
- Maintains all roofing on Library building
- Performs painting duties including paint application, caulking, and plaster
- Maintains the correct temperature and humidity control of all Library buildings
- Inspects building interior and exterior for potential safety concerns
- Performs ongoing preventative maintenance to prevent major problems
- Performs repairs to concrete and asphalt
- Other duties as assigned
You will need to be:
- Able to work with minimal direct supervision
- Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Able to work independently
- Able to find and fix the source of a problem
- Able to use power tools safely
You will need to have:
- High school degree or equivalent plus two to four years related experience and/or training in the building maintenance field OR
- Degree from Mechanical Trade School
- A valid Driver's license
- Computer skills including Building Automation Systems (BAS) experience
- HVAC Universal Refrigerant Certificate
You will receive:
- Competitive salary range starting at $51,000 - $56,000 per year

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm, on-call hour rotation
