Hours: Monday-Friday: 6:30 am – 2:30 pm
APPOINTED BY: Chief Executive Officer
Responsible to: Kitchen Manager
BASIC FUNCTIONS: To prepare and serve food
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare lunch using the menu and food items supplied.
- Maintain germ-free food preparation with the use of gloves and healthy food preparation techniques.
- Maintain a clean and healthy eating environment.
- Communicate with the manager for special food and kitchen requirements
- Be aware of the special dietary needs of particular consumers.
- Maintain general upkeep including cabinets and doors, trash cans, silverware drawers, sink, refrigerators inside and out, microwave, and countertops.
- Possess good knife skills.
- Ability to cook different recipes.
- Maintain awareness of consumers' rights and responsibilities.
- Ensure that all Program, Regional Center, CARF, and Health Department standards and other applicable requirements are maintained.
- Responsible for maintaining program confidentiality.
- Good and effective communication skills.
- Professional attitude.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines
- Must be able to follow all applicable laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to Title 17 and 22 of the State of California and the Lanterman Act.
- Responsible for becoming familiar with SMSC policies and procedures.
- Responsible for all other duties assigned by the program supervisor to ensure the safe and efficient daily operation of the program.
- Report any documented or suspected adult abuse.
- Responsible for all other duties as assigned by the Manager to ensure the safe and efficient daily operation of the program.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This classification does not formally supervise support staff, at this time.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Individuals will frequently be required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear. Occasionally may have to lift up to 50 lbs. for purposes of consumer safety or setting up activities. Use of cleaning materials required, such as bleach and dishwashing detergent. Work outside in all weather conditions. May be required to walk distances up to one-half mile in length. May be required to swim. Occasionally there will be situations requiring high stamina. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work will take place inside a care center. Work will be performed in the kitchen, classroom, and restroom areas. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Must be 18 years of age
- High School diploma or GED required
- Experience providing services to people with developmental, learning, or physical disabilities preferred
- Preferred Disability Professional Services Certificate or enrollment in Disabilities Services Management Certificate classes
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must complete a pre-employment health screening/TB test
- Must be able to obtain and maintain criminal records clearance including a child abuse background check
- Valid CA Driver’s License
- Clean DMV Report
- Must be able to successfully complete CPR and First Aid Training during the orientation process and update certification annually
- Must be able to successfully complete and maintain Food Handlers Certification
