What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Preschool Teacher position at St. Mark Child Development Center?
Substitute Teacher:
Under supervision of the St. Mark Child Development Center (SMCDC) Director, the Lead (Full Time) Teacher, ensures the quality instruction, care and supervision of infants through early elementary aged children enrolled in the St. Mark Child Development Center. The Substitute Teacher maintains current and up-to-date knowledge of Early Childhood Development, and:
- Performs activities and routines as directed by the Director
- Participates in normal classroom duties, assessments, documentation, classroom instruction, curriculum implementation, daily routine and schedule, monitoring children, feeding, diapering and/or toilet training as needed, attending field trips and age and developmentally appropriate practices
- Conducts herself/himself in a professional manner at all times and demonstrates high expectations for self, peers, and students
- Serve as a contact with parents
- May help with special projects as needed

- Must have a warm and supportive attitude and disposition toward working with children and their families
- Must be reliable
- Must be flexible in receiving assignments or adapting to changes in the program
- Must be willing to accept supervision in order to improve work performance
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be physically able to perform job of a teacher of young children. (Must be able to lift 25 lbs. from floor to waist height)
- Must be able to pass a Child Abuse and Neglect and FBI background check as well as drug test.
