What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp - Lifeguards position at St. Martin's Episcopal School?
St. Martin’s Episcopal School is recruiting Lifeguards to work for our 2025 St. Martin’s Episcopal School Summer Camp. Lifeguards must be available from June 2, 2025 - July 25, 2025. There will be MANDATORY staff training on May 31st from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Lifeguards are also required to attend a skills verification before camp. The skills verification time will be made available to you by May 1, 2024. Meals are provided to camp employees at no extra cost.
First and foremost, summer employees are responsible for the safety and well-being of all campers. At all times, a lifeguard should present themselves as a positive role model. Summer employees are expected to maintain open lines of communication with the Director and Pool Director and to work cooperatively with other lifeguards. Being a summer employee is one of the most rewarding jobs you can ever have.
The Lifeguards will report to the St. Martin’s Episcopal School Summer Camp Directors and Pool Director to evaluate the skill level of each camper. You will have daily interactions with other counselors, campers, parents/caregivers of campers, and all StM staff that work on campus during the summer.
Regular Summer Camp is Monday through Friday.
Job Description

Must attend camp staff meetings and training events
Ensure the safety of all swimmers through proper lifeguarding techniques
Attend the MANDATORY skills verification check before the start of camp on June 2nd.
Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment, performing pool deck maintenance to ensure a clean and safe swimming environment and ensuring that camper bags and towels are placed in the correct location, keeping the pool deck free of all hazards
Follow and administer the StM Summer Camp policy
Attend counselor meetings as scheduled and attend MANDATORY counselor training
Ensure campers are supervised at all times
May be asked to perform other duties as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description
Qualifications
Must be 15 years or older
Must have at least one year of experience working with children
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Certification
American Red Cross First Aid Certification
American Red Cross Water Safety Certification
