What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lower School Art and Digital Media Teacher position at St. Mary Academy-Bay View?
St. Mary Academy-Bay View is seeking a part-time Lower School Art and Digital Media Teacher beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. The teacher in this role would be responsible for introducing our youngest students to the world of visual arts, and digital media platforms Pre-K through 5.
The person in this role is committed to providing a student-centered environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Candidates must be committed to an all-girls and Mercy education.
Responsibilities:
-Develop and implement lesson plans for an experiential and project-based visual arts and digital media curriculum for students,
-Create and lead opportunities to present and promote art within the Lower School;
-Provide the environment necessary to meet content standards to develop lifelong learners.
-Introduce students to responsible technology use and digital citizenship;
-Equip students with basic computer skills and procedures: online research skills, creativity with tech tools, software programs used at Bay View (e.g., Google Classroom), and beginning coding;
-Independently learning how to navigate platforms used in school, sign in and out, and interact with carefully curated apps;
-Teach Media Literacy classes in grades PK through 5 on computer basics and procedures,
-Participate in ongoing professional development on emerging technologies, curriculum design, and pedagogies relevant to instructional technology.

Requirements:
-BA/BS in related area, Master’s degree preferred
-3 years experience working in a school setting
