JOB SUMMARY
The Junior High Athletic Director is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of the school’s athletic programs. This includes scheduling games, ensuring compliance with league requirements, supervising events, managing equipment and uniforms, the recruitment process and coordination with coaches, and fostering a supportive and disciplined environment for athletes and staff.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Game Scheduling and League Representation:
- Schedule all league and non-league games for junior high sports.
- Serve as the school representative in the Washington County Junior League, attending meetings and advocating for the school’s interests.
- Event Oversight and Coordination:
- Monitor all junior high athletic events to ensure smooth operations and safety.
- Ensure proper officials are present for each game and coordinate their payment.
- Although the Athletic Director is not responsible for elementary sports, they shall serve as the sole coordinator for gym scheduling.
- Athlete Preparation and Safety:
- Provide all student-athletes with proper preseason training programs.
- Ensure each athlete completes a yearly physical examination and maintains eligibility to participate.
- Equipment and Uniform Management:
- Monitor, distribute, and maintain sports uniforms.
- Ensure all teams have the proper equipment for their sport and request additional equipment from boosters as necessary.
- Coach Oversight and Support:
- Assist in securing qualified coaches each year for various sports teams.
- Ensure all coaches have the necessary credentials and certifications to lead their teams.
- Discipline, coach, and support coaches as needed to uphold standards and promote a positive environment.
- Step in as an emergency replacement coach when required.
- Collaboration and Representation:
- Serve as the school’s representative at booster meetings, building partnerships and securing resources for athletic programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage schedules, events, and resources effectively.
Excellent interpersonal and leadership abilities to work with students, coaches, parents, and league offi cials.
Knowledge of athletic training principles, safety protocols, and physical conditioning requirements.
Experience in coaching or athletic program management is preferred.
Ability to handle disciplinary and emergency situations with professionalism and fairness.
Must be willing to complete all coursework required to obtain a pupil activity permit.
This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented leader dedicated to fostering a positive and thriving athletic environment for junior high students and staff .
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $55,660.00 - $61,194.00 per year
Expected hours: 1 – 15 per week
