Job Title: Varsity Head Football Coach
Reports to: Athletic Director
Supervises: Assistant Football Coaches
Summary: Develop and maintain an efficient and competitive football program.
General Duties/Responsibilities
- Support the philosophy established by the SMCS Board of Trustees to govern the athletic program.
- Observe the policies, regulations and directives of the athletic program as defined by the Diocesan Board policies and regulations and the local governing board.
- Supervise and/or provide proper supervision for the students under his/her care in both the building and/or outdoor areas. Students are not to be left without a coach in the immediate area at any time.
- Supervise and give direction to the high school football coaching staff.
- Communicate practice times, schedules and/or any other important information to student athletes, parents and the Athletic Director in a timely manner.
- Call in scores of the game to the media.
- Enter Statistics into WisSports.
- Use Hudl for filming and scouting purposes.
- Responsible for the use and care of the equipment; oversee the issuance of and return of equipment.
- See that all facilities used by a team and/or coach are left in proper order and used properly at all times.
- Report misconduct and/or damaged property to the Athletic Director/Administrator immediately on occurrence.
- Contact the Athletic Director/Administrator regarding the unexcused absence of a student from practice or a game.
- Complete a VIRTUS awareness session and Diocesan background check before the coach begins.
- Acknowledge receipt of and agree to adhere to the Diocesan Code of Pastoral Conduct as contained in Maintaining Boundaries.
- Promote his/her sport publically by working with the media and parents and by being involved in school sponsored endeavors such as spirit week, yearbook, fundraisers, promotions, youth activities, etc.
- Exemplify the highest standards of conduct at all times.
- Develop program through youth camps, Middle School football program and overall athletic recruitment within SMCS system
Qualifications:
- Successful experience coaching or participating in a college or high school football program.
- Strong belief in Catholic education
- Ability to communicate with and serve all groups within the SMCS system including principals, parents, and students
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to coordinate and manage multiple priorities and responsibilities as well as attention to detail
- Must present a professional image
- Must be able to maintain confidential information
