Position Summary: St. Mary, Help of Christians, located in Aiken, SC is a thriving Catholic parish and school community. The community is in need of a Youth Director at the parish to lead the program.
The primary responsibility of the Youth Director is to teach about and witness to the Catholic faith. In this position the candidate will coordinate and direct youth activities and ministries in the parish for grades 6 through 12. This includes formation for public school students, preparation for confirmation, service projects and retreats.
The Youth Director also advocates for youth, working with other church ministries, the parish school, and volunteers to involve youth more broadly in rich and satisfying participation in the life of the Church.
Reports To: Patrick Wray
Employment Status: Full Time
Job Responsibilities:
- Plan and teach formation to non-Catholic/Catholic school teens, grades 6-12
- Plan and coordinate middle and high school youth nights
- Plan, facilitate, and attend both on and off campus youth activities
- Coordinate Confirmation for all youth being confirmed
- Coordinate, train, and mentor volunteers
- Outreach with partner SVDP service with school
- Communicate with Finance Council and Parish Council to get approval for budget for projects and programs
- Bi-lingual is preferred
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry or related field
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to drive mini-bus for outings
- Practicing Catholic in good standing
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: This position requires standing, walking, siting, talking, hearing, using hands, using feet, climbing/balancing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, reaching above shoulders, and tasting/smelling at least 1/3 of the time. This position requires that you will lift up to 25 pounds at least 1/3 of the time.
