What are the responsibilities and job description for the RESTORATIVE TECHNICIAN - REHAB position at St Mary's Healthcare System for Children?
The Restorative Technician performs direct and indirect rehab care services to the residents’ of St. Mary’s Hospital for Children under the direct supervision of licensed staff. Supports Health Care System’s mission to provide the highest quality of care by complying with regulatory guidelines and meeting agency standards.
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Provides direct restorative rehab care according to written medical orders for rehab practices such as Ambulation and Restorative and Habilitative Standing.
- Assists licensed therapist and provides a direct supportive role to the therapeutic team with treatments and within all departments as needed.
- Collaborates with licensed Rehabilitation and medical team to develop rehab care plan and multidisciplinary team as needed.
- Documents, when appropriate and necessary, all rehab care practices performed in our electronic medical record.
- Tracks data and reports patient progress and functional status to the Rehab team members.
- Participates in research protocols including data collection as needed.
- Completes weekly caseload assignments efficiently.
- Engages patients in age-appropriate socialization/stimulation.
- Maintains department equipment by cleaning, disinfecting, maintaining orderly condition and reporting defective equipment.
- Facilitates the smooth functioning of the department to which assigned by performing administrative tasks and clerical duties.
- Maintains inventory of department equipment and supplies.
- Participates in patient, family and staff education.
- Actively seeks out opportunities to enhance present knowledge.
Formal education required:
Bachelor’s Degree required; Exercise Science, Neuroscience, Psychology or Health Science major preferred
Active CPR certification required
Previous experience required:
Six months patient care experience in a pediatric health care facility preferred.
Worked under the direct supervision of a physical therapist or assistant preferred.
