Responsibilities:
- Develops and monitors unit staffing patterns to ensure safety, quality care, and productivity while meeting applicable standards and is responsible for coordinating associate schedules to ensure adequate coverage. Responsible for providing leadership to personnel.
- Provides ongoing feedback to staff concerning their performance, implementing corrective action as needed and per human resource policy. Ensures performance evaluations are thorough, timely and include goal setting for each individual. Establishes systems for open communication and problem solving, encourages associate involvement in safety and health standards, hazard analysis, and performance improvement initiatives. Promotes growth and development in self and others. Develops and documents orientation and ongoing training programs for departmental personnel.
- Effectively uses KRONOS time and attendance system and other human resource information systems and processes. Effectively interprets and implements Human Resource policies and consults with Human Resources as necessary. Encourages and supports applicable certification of all eligible staff.
- Provides leadership for process improvement and redesign to improve customer satisfaction, maintain timely delivery and/or filing of documentation and accuracy or document indexing.
- Acts as the subject matter expert for Expanse HIM document creation, scanning and release of information. Serves as liaison in coordination with practice staff to provide guidance for routine scanning and sharing of information for coordination of care.
- Develops, implements, and monitors medical records procedures specific to the ambulatory practices. Responsible for ensuring the timely education of the HIM team regarding changes in laws, regulations, and policies requirements to ensure compliance.
- Assists with 3rd party payor insurance and supplemental quality submissions. Effectively works with revenue cycle staff on coding denials management and will assist with appeals as needed. Creates manual entries to capture quality data as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Prepares weekly report to leadership regarding status of inbound results
- Assists Corporate Compliance Office with audits.
- Identifies opportunities to improve quality and support efforts of Clinical Improvement Specialist
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Ambulatory Practice Office Operations assistant’s with HIM responsibility.
Education, Training & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required. Associates degree in related field preferred. Three (3) years of related management experience, and a minimum of three (3) years of previous acute care hospital coding (ambulatory and inpatient) required.
