The Family Counseling Center of Fulton County, Inc. is committed to providing quality mental health services to individuals and families. We are seeking a dedicated Medical Records Specialist to manage and secure client health information, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
Job Summary:
The Medical Records Specialist will maintain, update, and secure client medical records, both paper and electronic, in accordance with New York State regulations, HIPAA, and CCBHC guidelines. You’ll work closely with clinical staff to ensure accurate and timely access to client records and provide support for audits, quality checks, and data requests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and update client medical records in both paper and electronic formats (EHR systems).
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CCBHC, and New York State regulations.
- Review and resolve discrepancies in medical records.
- Respond to authorized requests for client health information securely and promptly.
- Process release of information (ROI) requests following clinic policy.
- Participate in audits to maintain record accuracy and compliance.
- Safeguard client confidentiality and maintain accurate, organized records.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure proper documentation practices.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or certification in Health Information Technology or related field preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in medical records management, preferably in healthcare or behavioral health.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google, and EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Credible).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of behavioral health documentation and insurance requirements (Medicaid, Medicare).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and commitment to client confidentiality.
