The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
Responsibilities:
Receive payer/third party denials for coding, clinical validation, route denial notifications/letters to the appropriate HIM associate for processing/response.
SPARCS data submission/validation/corrections accurate and timely each month.
SPARCS Comparison Audits completed timely.
Database submissions for mortalities, birth defects, cancer registry.
Track denials to send appeals in a timely manner, track denials/appeals to closure, including follow up with payer/third party.
Compile routine and ad hoc reports for denial trending/tracking/reporting.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with Patient Financial Services to ensure win/loss for each denial (account) is recorded appropriately.
Work within the Expanse/3M system to review/resolve accounts on the hold lists to facilitate the coding/billing process including follow up with provider offices and coding associate team.
Routinely work tasks/denials within Expanse to ensure timely filing limits are met.
Minimum Qualifications
Education, Training & Experience HS diploma or equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years' experience in HIM, or a combination of HIM experience and at least one (1) year of college education.
Associate Degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred.
Certifications / Licensure AHIMA and/or AAPC Coding Certification, or RHIT,RHIA preferred.
