What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Cottage Manager position at St. Mary's Home for Boys?
Who We Are
Founded in 1889 as an orphanage for abandoned and wayward children, today St. Mary's Home for Boys offers residential and day treatment services to at-risk boys between the ages of 13 and 17 who have survived extreme trauma. The individualized program provides each client with a structured regimen to ensure his successful transition to public school, the community, and an appropriate living environment.
What You Will Do:
- Maintain an effective line of communication between cottage management, line staff, and cottage residents.
- Collaborate with lead staff to ensure staff responsibilities are designated clearly to each staff as they report for duty.
- Coordinate with Recreation Supervisor regarding appropriate evening activities for all cottages.
- Communicate any new treatment concerns to the Cottage Manager.
- Train and recognize opportunities for staff to use Collaborative Problem Solving within Individual Skills Training.
- Train Residential Counselors in Home Visit planning responsibilities.
- Ensure 45 and 80 daily checklists are completed for new employees.
- Provide staff ongoing feedback in a non-threatening, constructive manner.
Ensure all incidents are formally documented and copies are distributed to the correct staff.
What You Need:
- BA/BS degree required. Preferably in Psychology, Sociology, Administration of Justice, or other Behavioral Science field.
- 2 years previous experience (paid or volunteer) in a residential treatment facility or similar setting is desired.
Additional Information:
- Starting rate: Minimum of $55,619 per year. (subject to negotiation with previous experience)
- Primary shift days: Sunday – Thursday, 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required.
- Ability to pass State and FBI background checks with fingerprints
