Position Overview:
St. Mary’s Parish School is seeking a dedicated and mission-driven educator to serve as a long-term substitute teacher for Middle School Social Studies and Religion (Grades 7 & 8) during a maternity leave, from August 20 through December 2025. This position also includes Grade 7 homeroom responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm for teaching, a deep understanding of adolescent learners, and a commitment to Catholic education. This individual will work with existing curriculum materials and collaborate with the middle school team to provide a seamless and enriching academic experience for students.
Key Responsibilities:
•Deliver engaging and standards-aligned instruction in Social Studies and Religion for Grades 7 and 8
•Implement lesson plans provided, ensuring alignment with state and diocesan standards
•Use a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to support differentiated learning
•Assess student progress using diverse methods, including tests, written assignments, projects, and group discussions
•Maintain an organized, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
•Utilize Google Classroom to support instruction and student communication
•Serve as Grade 7 Homeroom Teacher, providing pastoral care and fostering a positive classroom community
•Communicate regularly and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree preferred
•Prior teaching experience, especially in middle school settings, is strongly preferred
•Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom effectively and engage adolescent learners
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills
•Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education
