What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Athletic Trainer position at St. Mary’s Ryken?
St. Mary's Ryken (SMR) is a member of the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference, a national renowned athletic conference across the country in high school education. There are 40 athletic teams offered at SMR at the varsity, JV and freshman level. SMR seeks an Assistant Athletic Trainer for an entry-level position. The ideal candidate will be a natural leader who aligns with the mission and vision of SMR athletics and who will create a championship way of life through a transformational culture. Qualified candidates will have a masters degree, be BOC certified with a license to practice athletic training in the state of Maryland, be CPR and First Aid certified, and demonstrate master in the areas below. This is a 11-month salaried part-time position, averaging between 20-30 hours per week.
Athletic Department Duties
- Teach 1 Wellness Class (Spring Semester)
- Manage critical reload protein/nutrition program for student-athletes
Department Responsibilities
- Uphold and model the SMR Athletics Mission and Vision while developing student-athletes of character
- Assistant Head Athletic Trainer with clinic operations across all 3 seasons/summer that mimic the NCAA Level in a healthy, safe and positive way
- Assist Head Athletic Trainer in communicating with team doctor(s), athletic administration, coaching staff, student-athletes, athletic training staff and families
Compliance
- Assist Head Athletic Trainer with documentation of paperwork in Magnus Software in direct compliance with the WCAC, SMR, state and national guidelines
- Assist Head Athletic Trainer with communicating and implementing system of documentation with athletics administration, coaching staff, student-athletes and family
Athletic Training Treatment and Operations
- Execute a schedule with Head Athletic Trainer/Athletic Administration for clinic hours of operation that benefit the high school student-athlete
- Execute a schedule of practice & game day coverage at ALL home contests with Athletic Training staff
- Support Head Athletic Trainer with direct communication with student-athlete, family, coaching staff, Sports Performance staff, and team doctor on injury reports when needed
- Assist with documentation system of all medical paperwork with Athletic Training staff
- Maintain NCAA level facility with relevant equipment upgrades and organization
- Assist with SMR summer training
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training
- BOC Certification (or eligible)
- Maryland Licensure (or eligible)
- CPR and First Aid Certification
