What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lecturer of Finance position at St. Mary's University?
The Greehey School of Business at St. Mary's University, a premier institution, invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track Lecturer of Finance starting August 1, 2025.
Candidates should hold a Master's degree or higher. Although not required, preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience across multiple instructional modalities at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate should be able to teach in more than one of the following areas: investments, financial institutions, financial management, personal finance, and international finance. A commitment to service that includes student advising and participation in committees is expected. Professional certifications in finance and/or risk management are preferred, as is a potential for consulting.
The position is housed in the Department of Finance and Quantitative Management in the Greehey School of Business. The Department offers a Major in Finance and Risk Management and a Minor in Business Analytics. Faculty in the department also teach core courses common to all business majors. At the graduate level, faculty members provide instruction to students enrolled in the School's MBA program. In addition to their commitment to excellence in teaching and service, successful faculty members are also open to interaction with industry professionals for the benefit of students.
The Greehey School of Business is AACSB accredited. At the undergraduate level, it offers a BBA with majors in Accounting, Accounting and Data Analytics, Business and Law, Finance and Risk Management, Management, Marketing, and International Business. The vast majority of undergraduate courses are taught in person on campus. At the graduate level, the school offers an online MBA for Professionals. Class sizes are small, with an average faculty to student ratio of 1:17. San Antonio is one of the top ten fastest growing cities in the country, with the San Antonio-Austin corridor described as the "New Major Metropolis" by major news media. The School has an excellent reputation for academic quality and has a very successful alumni base that is engaged with the School and the University.
