POSITION TITLE: Temporary Technical Assistant for Digital Fabrication Equipment in CAD
DEPARTMENT: Department of Art and Art History
REPORTS TO: Chair of Art and Art History
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
Hours : 16 Hours per week

This .3 FTE Technical Assistant oversees and maintains the digital fabrication equipment, digital photo printers, lighting studio, and media checkout for students and faculty in Studio Art. A high degree of responsibility, creativity, independent judgment, and collaboration are required, as this person will work both independently and in partnership with faculty, staff, students, facilities crews, outside vendors, and other community partners.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
The duties below are representative but are not intended to cover all duties performed by the position.
- Maintain digital printers and digital fabrication equipment and ensure all equipment functions properly and safely.
- Provide training to faculty and students who need to use the digital equipment
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
- Coordinate with IT and outside vendors to repair specialized equipment
- Oversee lighting studio and camera checkout area, maintain and update WebCheckout database.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Physical Requirements:
This position requires bending, stooping, pulling, pushing, reaching overhead, kneeling, standing for extended periods of time, and lifting and moving objects of up to 50 lbs. It also requires exposure to noise, chemicals, fumes, dust, and odors in order to perform the essential functions. Must possess the ability to safely perform the physical work required of all duties.WORK SCHEDULE:
FTE: .3 (16 hours per week)
Term: January-May, 2025

The Department of Art and Art History is an integral part of a vibrant liberal arts college. It is currently housed in the Center for Art and Dance, an Art, Art History and Dance complex, serving 200 undergraduate Art and Art History majors. The Department of Art and Art History is NASAD accredited and offers BA options in Studio Art, Art History, and Art Education. There are seven full-time faculty members, four part-time faculty members, and three staff members. The Center for Art and Dance is well equipped with labs for ceramics, drawing, new media, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture. Rolvaag Library houses an extensive collection of books, periodicals, and videos.
