Position Title: Director of Government, Foundation, and Corporate Relations
Department: Government, Foundation, and Corporate Relations (GFCR)
Reports To: Provost and Dean of the College
Classification: Exempt FTE: 1.0
Salary: $102,000 - $119,000
Essential Job Duties:
1. Leadership
- Collaborate closely with College leadership to identify needs and key priorities for
funding and cultivate a grant-seeking culture at the College through faculty and staff
development initiatives. - Strategically identify and profile external funding opportunities that align and
resonate with St. Olaf faculty expertise and institutional priorities. - Develop and implement short and long-term strategies for initiating and developing
beneficial relationships with government, foundation, and corporate funders. - Establish and maintain relationships with external funders by monitoring higher
education funding trends and priorities and convey the College’s relevant
achievements or distinctions. - Ensure compliance with federal regulations, legal policies, and professional best
practices. Monitor developments in grants submission and administration policies
and procedures.
2. Collaboration
- Partner with faculty and staff to develop and submit compelling funding proposals to
support teaching, scholarly activities, and programming. - Collaborate with faculty and staff on post-award grants management and timely
reporting as required by funders and St. Olaf policies. - Maintain productive working relationships with colleagues in the Business Office,
Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment, and Advancement. Maintain active relationships with consortial partners and peer institutions.
3. Supervision
- Foster a team-based culture that is collaborative, mutually supportive, efficient, and
service-oriented. - Hire, train, supervise, and annually review all GFCR staff members.
Manage the GFCR operating budget.
4. Support, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of
view to build a strong and inclusive community.
5. Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
Term: Year-round
Shift: The standard 40-hour work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; flexible work
arrangements can be proposed and are subject to approval by HR and relevant supervisors;
with occasional evening and weekend hours; some evening and weekend hours required for
special events.
This position is on-call for emergencies outside of regular working hours; travel
up to 5% of the work schedule, which includes local (Twin Cities metro area) and national travel.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree Experience: 5 years of relevant experience in higher education grant development

Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s Degree; maintain a valid driver’s license and meet St. Olaf College driver
authorization criteria with a satisfactory driving record\ - Experience: 7 years of experience; 3 years of experience as a supervisor of staff or student
employees, or equivalent demonstrated leadership skills/abilities. - Experience with development
and management of budgets. Proven track record of successful grant awards from government
agencies and knowledge of federal grant policies and procedures.

Employment in this position is conditioned upon successful completion of a background check,

verification of any required academic credentials, licenses, and/or certifications, a motor vehicle
check, verification of a DOT certification, a credit check, employment eligibility verification,
and/or a pre-employment physical. Whether a background check is deemed successfully
