Job Description

Position Title : Assistant Director for Housing Operations.

Department : Residence Life.

Classification : Exempt.

FTE : 1.0.

Work Schedule : Monday-Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM; some evening and weekend hours required for special events and on call rotation; travel up to 5% of work schedule, which includes local (Twin Cities metro area) and regional travel.

Salary Range : $50,000 - $60,000.

Essential Job Duties :

  • Assignments & Billing.

Ensure the management of the housing operations system.

  • Coordinate the housing assignment process.
  • Ensure proper billing : room, board and damage charges.
  • Information Technology.
  • Serves as a lead with the housing operations system.

  • Serves as a liaison and support for the following systems : card access, facilities work order, key management, community standards, and university operations.
  • Supervisory & Management Responsibilities.
  • Hire, train, and supervise employees for respective residence hall(s) assigned

  • Conduct performance evaluations.
  • Support summer school, summer conference and guest housing program and transitions.
  • Facilities and Environmental Health & Safety.
  • Coordinate the residence hall front desk operations program.

  • Coordinate housing sustainability initiatives.
  • Coordinate fire drills and fire safety awareness initiatives and processes.
  • Support building facility and custodial issues and building walk-throughs.
  • Coordinate the residence hall storage and abandon property program.
  • Coordinate hall mid-year and end-of-the-year residence hall closing.
  • Coordinate key management.
  • Conduct, Duty and Crisis Management.
  • Support and enforce college campus policies.

  • Be knowledgeable, participate and support the student conduct process.
  • Serve in the campus on-call emergency rotation.
  • Residence Hall Building Oversight (only if living on campus).
  • Oversee the day-to-day functions of a residence hall(s), including supervising the student staff, advising the student volunteers and supporting the students living in the halls.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community.

  • Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle.
  • Supervision Received and Exercised :

  • Reports to the Associate Dean of Students for Residence Life & Student Conduct.
  • This position supervises student staff.
  • Required Qualifications :

  • Education : Bachelor's Degree; maintain a valid driver's license and meet St. Olaf College driver authorization with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Experience : 3 years of relevant experience; 1 year operations, logistics, programming and / or event planning experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Education : Master's degree in student personnel or related field.
  • Experience : 2 years of residential live-in experience; 3 years of operations, logistics, programming and / or event planning experience.
  • Prerequisites :

  • Employment in this position is conditioned upon successful completion of a background check which may include : criminal background checks, reference checks, verification of work history, verification of any required academic credentials, licenses, and / or certifications, a motor vehicle check, verification of DOT certification, a credit check, employment eligibility verification, and / or a pre-employment physical.
