St. Paul’s Lutheran School is hiring a Preschool teacher in our supportive PK-6th grade environment in Waverly, Iowa. We are seeking an outgoing, passionate and dedicated teacher that values the importance of faith and has the ability to engage students in a collaborative classroom community. Knowledge about MTSS, technology integration, Iowa Quality Preschool Program Standards, Teaching Strategies GOLD, and IGDIS helpful, but not required. St. Paul’s is fully accredited with the Iowa Department of Education and follows the Iowa Learning Standards.

Duties:
-Create and implement engaging lesson plans that are suitable for preschool children, focusing on their developmental needs, including play opportunities and are aligned with the Iowa Early Learning Standards.
-Observe each child’s behavior and development to assess their social competencies and emotional growth.
-Assess children’s progress in GOLD, record daily attendance and anecdotal notes on individual development.
-Promote social interactions among children to help them develop communication skills and resolve conflicts.
-Organize group activities that foster teamwork and cooperation among students.
-Communicate frequently and conduct meetings with parents about their child’s progress, behavior, and any concerns that may arise, and discuss their child’s development and suggest ways they can support learning at home.
-Supervise children during free playtime to ensure safety while encouraging imaginative play.
-Organize snack breaks and nap times, ensuring that all children are cared for appropriately during these periods.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and growth.
-Use a variety of teaching methods and learning technologies to accommodate different learning styles.
- Use GOLD and IGDIS results to inform instruction & modify teaching strategies based on individual children’s learning styles, interests, and developmental levels.
- Foster a positive classroom culture that encourages respect, cooperation, and active participation.
- Utilize effective classroom management strategies and set clear behavioral expectations to maintain a productive learning environment.
Experience:- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (required)- Teaching certification or license (required)- Experience working with elementary school students (preferred)- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices- Familiarity with learning technologies and their integration into the classroom- Experience working with students with various needs- Strong written and verbal communication skills- Ability to provide tutoring or additional support to students as needed- Knowledge of education administration and policies
