Position Description
The St. Paul’s Schools is looking for substitute teachers in our lower school for grades PreK through 4th grade to help cover classes for the 2024–2025 school year. The goal of this position is to provide classroom coverage to those faculty members cannot be in the classroom due to illness or family related matters. Substitute teachers would work closely with the faculty member whose class they are covering and with division heads for classroom management and disciplinary issues. Experience teaching is preferred.
Major Responsibilities
- Oversight of students in classroom ensuring each student is behaving, social distancing and completing their work as assigned by distance learning teacher
- Work to support the students academically - reviewing work and answering questions.
- Communicate regularly with teacher of the class regarding student updates, classroom behavior, concerns, etc. Provide regular summary of work completed.
- Coordinate with division head or dean of students on behavioral issues with students.
- Comply with all building procedures, expectations and schedules.
- Work cooperatively with other teachers in that grade and/or division.
- Work with faculty member to assist in grading, attendance and LMS maintenance.
- Serve in any other duties as assigned by division head including recess supervision, helping with lunches in classrooms and/or assisting with carpool pick up and drop off.

- Experience teaching or major in education is preferred, but not required.

- Strong technology skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook email systems.

- Strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated professionalism: ability to meet deadlines, lead initiatives, be proactive, and communicate with all constituencies of school community.
- Ability to multi-task and manage various projects at one time.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
