Key Responsibilities
St. Paul’s School is searching for a full-time middle school Language Arts teacher. This position will teach a combined four sections of 7th and 8th grade Language Arts, but the ideal candidate should feel comfortable teaching multiple grade levels in middle school. The successful candidate will have a passion for teaching middle school boys and an interest in differentiated curriculum. The teacher should use a team-oriented approach and place the needs of the students first. This position will serve as an advisor and be responsible for delivering the school’s character education program.
The highly effective St. Paul’s middle school Language Arts teacher will:
- Be an established educator, specifically in teaching middle school boys,
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge and understanding of middle school Language Arts and pedagogy, including creative and analytical writing, grammar, and literary analysis,
- Foster an exciting, dynamic, hands-on, and creative learning environment.
- Plan, evaluate, and revise curriculum, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction,
- Actively engage students in the curriculum and concepts through varied and differentiated instruction,
- Incorporate various forms of technology within the classroom and lessons,
- Identify and/or develop resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds and learning styles,
- Work closely with the middle school leadership team, grade-level teams and grade deans, as well as the middle school team at St. Paul’s School for Girls as it relates to shared ideas in curriculum and scope and sequence in grades K through 12,
- Be compassionate, kind, and love teaching/working with middle school boys,
- Be a lifelong learner passionate about their discipline and continually refines and develops their pedagogy,
- Be willing to work in an interdisciplinary, cross-curricular, and collaborative environment,
- Create a positive work environment with flexibility, resilience, accountability, and humor,
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators,
- Be willing to contribute to other aspects of middle school life,
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications
Our ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in secondary or English education, with a masters degree being preferred. In addition, they will possess strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and organizational skills, be a leader, demonstrate initiative, work as a team and have familiarity with a variety of systems including Microsoft Office suite and Canvas, our learning management system.

The St. Paul’s Schools has a compensation scale based on direct years of experience and degree held. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s years of experience, education and skills. For this opportunity, our salary range is $46,000 to $65,000 annually. Candidates with additional experience or qualifications may be offered a salary outside of the range shown. Salary : $46,000 - $65,000
