Position Description
The primary responsibility of this full-time position is to teach math in the upper school for 9th – 12th grades. Qualified candidates are engaging and dynamic classroom teachers with experience in developing student-centered lessons and curricula. We seek an individual who is experienced and willing to teach the whole range of math courses from algebra 1 to calculus for the 2023-2024 school year. Classes taught by this individual will be rigorous, relevant, well-planned, innovative, and student-centered.
With an increased focus on digital literacy, data literacy and critical thinking strategies for our students, we are looking for an individual who is energized to collaborate, develop inter-disciplinary lessons, be creative in their lesson planning and who want to foster and environment of curiosity and continuous learning.
Key Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in mathematics or related field is a must; a master’s is preferred
- Minimum three years of experience teaching upper school mathematics is preferred
- Experience with IB mathematics is desirable
- Be able to design and employ instructional methods that meet the needs of a diverse range of learners
- Familiarity with Understanding by design and differentiated instruction is desirable
- Be able to relate mathematical content to real-world examples and applications
- Be willing to work with Upper School Learning Services Team to support students
- Be proactive in communicating student concerns
- Employ strong technology skills, including familiarity with tools that support learning and organization
- Be willing to collaborate with members of mathematics department, other faculty groups, and administrators to plan and implement departmental and school-wide goals
- Be able to function well both independently and in a team setting
- Communicate effectively and in a timely manner, meet deadlines, and be proactive and efficient in grading and returning student work
- Employ strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and organizational skills
- Engage fully in the life of the school, beyond classroom responsibilities

The St. Paul’s Schools has a compensation scale based on direct years of experience and degree held. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s years of experience, education and skills. For this opportunity, our salary range is $46,000 to $72,000 annually. Candidates with additional experience or qualifications may be offered a salary outside of the range shown.
