Compensation Based on Degree: Master's: $66,825.00, Doctorate/Terminal: $73,507.50

10 Month - 36 ECH (15-15-6)

Salary Admin Plan: Faculty (annual contract)


Faculty: Digital Media 

Location: Seminole and Clearwater campuses

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Master’s degree in Digital Media, Graphic Design, Videography, Web Design, Photography, or a related discipline. 
  • Ability to teach in two or more of the following discipline specific areas: Videography, Foundations of Design, Digital Graphic Design, User Experience Design, Digital and Film Photography, Business of Digital Media, Emerging Digital Media Technologies (like AR, VR, immersive environments, etc). 
  • Post-Secondary teaching experience beyond graduate-level teaching assistant work. 
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Full-time work experience in the field of digital media, graphic design, videography, web design, photography, or a related field. 
  • Established academic or professional career with promise of development, and nationally or internationally recognized research and/or creative scholarship. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to an inclusive and rigorous learning environment.

  4. Transcripts for all graduate level course work (unofficial copies are okay),

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Terminal degree (MFA or PhD) in Digital Media, Graphic Design, Videography, Web Design, Photography, or a related discipline. 
  • 5 years of full-time work experience in the field of digital media, graphic design, videography, web design, photography, or a related field. 
  • Full-time teaching experience. 
  • Experience teaching lower division and upper division courses. 
  • Management work experience in digital media, graphic design, videography, web design, or a related field. 
  • Experience with Canvas learning management system. 
  • Ability to work with learners from a variety of backgrounds, ages, and educational needs. 
  • Experience with college service, community outreach, and recruiting activities. 
  • Experience designing curriculum and courses. 
  • Familiarity with various teaching methodologies and practices, ability to develop activities that enhance and expand classroom instruction, and a passion for student learning. 
  • Quality Matters and/or ACUE certification. 
  • Mac and PC literate. 

 

Expectations for Full-Time Faculty at SPC:  

A faculty member at SPC has the primary function of instruction, coaching and student development. Secondary functions include assisting the College in developing and maintaining a quality program of instruction, providing service to the college and continuing professional development.   


  • Teach existing courses and develop new multidisciplinary undergraduate digital media courses relating to individual’s area of expertise 
  • Candidate must address the needs of a large student population—varying in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language, and academic preparation—through comprehensive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.  
  • Effectiveness in academic assignment; service to department and college committees; and continuing creative and professional activity are required to achieve continuing contract and promotion.  
  • Ability to contribute to SPC’s exceptional standards of student achievement through college service, teaching, and public engagement.  
  • This is a 15-15-6 contract. Faculty will teach 4-5 courses in the Fall and Spring and 2 classes in the Summer. 


Knowledge & Skills Required for Position:

  • Managerial principles and practices, 
  • Academic program processes and advising, 
  • Customer service principles, 
  • Presentation principles and practices, 
  • Computers and related software applications relating to digital media production, 
  • Online instruction or technology enhanced instruction,  


Job Responsibilities:  

  • Fosters academic excellence in teaching and learning.  
  • Supports the community college philosophy through commitment to success of students with varying goals, backgrounds and learning styles.  
  • Instructs students in accordance with college policies, procedures and approved curricula.  
  • Uses out-of-class duty hours effectively for class preparation, assisting students and participating in department/college activities.  
  • Serves the college through any of the following: (a) committee membership, (b) curriculum development, (c) development of innovative instruction, (d) sponsorship of student organizations, (e) representation of the college in professionally related community activities, and (f) special projects.  
  • Supports college extracurricular functions.  
  • Maintains currency in teaching field(s) through professional development and scholarly activities.  
  • Demonstrates a professional, cooperative, and considerate attitude toward students, colleagues, and staff.  
  • Performs related duties as required.
