What are the responsibilities and job description for the Waterfront Program Assistant position at St. Petersburg Yacht Club?
The Waterfront Program Assistant is a full-time salaried position responsible for the development and execution of ongoing programs and special events. We currently operate an active community sailing program, educational boating courses/seminars, local/regional/national sailing regattas, and numerous special events each year. This role will participate in the planning, organization, and execution of these programs and events by performing the following tasks:
Supervisory
- Organize and operate existing waterfront programs while identifying new avenues for future development
- Operate all programs and events within specified budgets
- Manage waterfront instructors and program support staff, including training and scheduling
- Ensure policies are enforced while maintaining high customer satisfaction
- Develop and execute marketing campaigns to support organizational goals
- Manage online membership database
- Develop and maintain industry contacts
- Other tasks, as necessary
Administrative
- Act as primary point of contact for telephone, email, in-person visits, and social media
- Maintain waterfront calendars
- Develop processes to streamline communication and improve coordination between staff and departments
- Maintain detailed records system
- Prepare periodic financial reports and status updates
- Other tasks, as necessary
Ideal Candidate will possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, management, marketing, communications, or similar field
- 2 years of experience as a sailing instructor or sailing program coordinator
- A background in competitive sailboat racing
- US Sailing Level 1 Certification
- Digital Experience – Web design, database management, email marketing, social media, Google suite, Microsoft Office, etc.
