SUMMARY – Responsible for the research of newly registered and delinquent sales taxpayers, special
event collections, and interoffice/outgoing mail processing and bank deposits for the St. Tammany Sheriff's
Office Slidell Administration Building, by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Verifies business sales tax registration certificates and/or current occupational licenses via on-site visits
Researches and follows-up on returned mail via telephone, email and/or on-site visits
Assists in the research of delinquent sales taxpayers
Coordinates registration of special events by contacting the various municipalities, events centers, and event
coordinators in order to obtain the necessary information to prepare for special events, creates special event
forms and follows up with special event vendors for non-payment of sales tax
Informs Sales Tax Department and/or Occupational License Department in regards to business activity in
parish (new businesses which may or may not be registered and businesses that cease operation)
Assists the Sales Tax Department with opening incoming mail, processing sales tax returns, answering
phones and emails
Communicates with each municipality’s Occupational License Department to verify status of businesses
operating in their jurisdictions
Makes daily bank deposits for the Sales Tax, Occupational License, Property Tax, Finance, and Collection
Departments
Picks up mail from Slidell post office and assists with distribution to appropriate departments via mailroom
Assists in sorting the interoffice mail to the appropriate department in the mailroom
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES - This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE - High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Proficient with Word, Excel and Outlook and is comfortable with basic computer applications.
LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and
memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to citizens,
employees of local governments we serve, and other employees of this organization. Ability to present
information in written format using correct grammar. Ability to fill out standardized forms. Must be
proficient in the English Languarge.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using
whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
furnished in written or oral form. Must be able to make decisions and use good judgment on matters that
are unforeseen in the field and encountered throughout the day.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS - Valid Louisiana Motor Vehicle Operator's
License; proof of residency of St. Tammany Parish (voters registration card); birth certificate (minimum
age of 21 years); Social Security Card.
