Director of Catechesis and Family Ministry - Little Flower Catholic Church, South Bend

St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church is seeking a committed Catholic with a deep relationship with Jesus to develop and implement a plan for lifelong catechetical formation for the parish with a primary focus on children, youth and family ministry. This person will be responsible for sacramental preparation (Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation) and coordinating The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) program. CGS is an established parish supported program with Level I, Level II and Level III atria. The Director of Catechesis is a member of the parish staff and reports directly to the pastor. This is a full time position with benefits.

Job Duties/Responsibilities include:

• Development and implementation of a comprehensive catechetical formation plan for parish families - primarily on children, youth and family ministry.
• Integrate diocesan curriculum guideline.
• Commitment to the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Model for religious education.
• Recruitment, formation, supervision, support and evaluation of catechists.
• Overseeing the inventory, purchasing supplies and furnishings for CGS Atrium.
• Scheduling Atrium sessions and providing volunteers with clear procedures for work in the Atrium.
• Work with parents to ensure the support and involvement of the family in the parish catechetical program.
• Coordinate and teach sacramental prep classes for Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation.
• Create and implement a yearly catechesis calendar.
• Create an annual budget in conjunction with the business manager.
• Provide clear communications to parents on expectations and upcoming activities/sacraments.
• Establish and maintain accurate sacramental records for the parish office.
• Ensure compliance with Diocesan Safe Environment for all catechists and volunteers.
• Prepare a monthly report to the Pastor.
• Attend and participate in parish staff and diocesan DRE meetings/retreats.
• Update the Catechesis section of the website on a regular basis.
• Ensure a safe and clean facility after weekly CGS classes.

Qualifications:

• Must be an active and practicing Catholic and strive to live in conformity with the moral teachings of the Church.
• A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in theology is preferred.
• Catechist Certification in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd for at Least Level I is preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel, Canva and Google calendar is highly desired.
• Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
