Food Pantry Driver (non-CDL)
St. Vincent de Paul – Cincinnati (SVDP) has served residents of greater Cincinnati for over 150 years with basic needs such as food, medicine, and homelessness prevention through its outreach center in the West End and through fifty-six parish-based volunteer Conferences (chapters). Job Summary:
The Food Pantry Driver is a vital member of the Food Pantry team, serving as the primary driver of our 18-foot box truck and cargo van. The Pantry Driver will provide exceptional customer service while picking up and dropping off items in the community, and while assisting with daily pantry operations.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Serve as primary driver of our 18-foot box truck and cargo van
• Pick up scheduled purchases and donations in support of daily pantry and Outreach Center operations
• Assist in recording and processing donations
Assist in daily pantry and processing center operations
• Provide support in setting up and shutting down the retail pantry space
• Provide direct service to neighbors in the food pantry
Participate as a member of the Outreach Center Programs Team
• Provide logistical support for a broad range of programs and services for the Outreach Center
• Additional duties, as assigned
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
• Desire to serve our neighbors in need in Cincinnati through both direct service and support work
• Commitment to excellence in customer service
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and ability to pass a background check
• Familiarity with equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and electric dollies, or willingness to learn
• Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with diverse audiences
• Ability to work on own initiative, independently, and to deliver on time
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to speak, hear, and engage in effective communication, both in person and over the telephone
