This position has a set schedule based on store needs as follows: 11:00am-7:00pm Mon-Thurs and 10:00am - 6pm Sundays. Be readily available to jump into each trained role at a moments notice. As a Sales Floor & Cashier Associate, you will work closely with other team members to provide customers with a positive shopping experience at our store in alignment with the mission of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul. You would interact with customers by determining their needs, answering their questions about our merchandise, and making sales (& possibly processing vouchers), while maintaining a tidy, stocked and organized counter and sales floor. You will also be cross trained in other departments to assist other team members when needed in order to stay productive when no customers at the register. This is a physical position and you will be on your feet and on the go most of the shift!
As well as working as cashier, based on the staffing needs and goals for the store, you will be required to work the sales floor; straighten, stock or pull items; or create new displays. It's a fun opportunity to gain retail experience in a thrift store environment or use your prior cashier experience.
Education and Experience
· High School or equivalent (GED) required
· Reading and math skills for retail sales transactions (counting currency/change)
· English proficiency is required; bilingual is a plus
· Previous experience working in retail or as a cashier is a PLUS, but will train
- RELIABILITY and good customer service is a MUST as well as EXCELLENT ATTENDANCE
· High level of professionalism and confidentiality when interacting with team members and store customers
· Ability to remain calm and focused during stressful situations
- ability to perform the key functions of the position
- Must pass a background check
- Must have reliable access to transportation to the work location for the scheduled hours
The employee is continuously standing and walking; and frequently bending and twisting; reaching above shoulders with hands and arms; pushing/pulling carts and lifting merchandise and objects up to 25 lbs. The employee must be able to distinguish color tags. Consistent, reliable attendance is a Must!!
