Director of Development and Public Relations
The Director of Development and Public Relations is appointed by the Rector and approved by the Board of Trustees. The Director of Development and Public Relations reports to the Rector, and is responsible for the planning, directing, and coordinating of all development activities, major and special fundraising events, and special projects.
The duties of the Director of Development and Public Relations include:
1. provides overall leadership and coordination of development plan components and fundraising activities;
2. identifies and cultivates relationships for major giving and planned giving opportunities;
3. manages the public image of the seminary and increases awareness of the seminary mission;
4. makes the seminary known to priests, vocation directors, schools, parishioners, and others to convey the attractiveness of the seminary and gain support for the seminary’s work;
5. maintains relationships with key stakeholders in the Catholic community;
6. develops and maintains relationships with foundations, corporations, and other partners to build the endowment;
7. oversees planning and production of all donor appreciation and fundraising events;
8. supervises and evaluates departmental staff;
The Seminary’s strategic plan for the next 5 years calls for the expansion of this department, to create greater visibility for the Seminary and to promote growth in major gifts. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing this new vision, with the hiring of additional staff over the coming years.
